Horrible advice

Mark McKowski & Nick Power

A dash of good. A dash of evil. That’s the balance. Right there. A tightrope. When it could fall either way at any moment. There is a balancing act. With everything. Music. Art. Film. Whatever. It’s all water from the same well. It just depends how you scoop it up. And when the balance is right, it’s the perfect broth. It’s good to keep one foot in the light and one foot in the dark. Don’t immerse yourself in either. Or it will own you. It’s all a game of chess. A dark art. The ride can be exhilarating and full of crashes. But Keep tapping away, work your way through the swamp, and while you don’t realise it you are creating your own style. Soon it will flow like water without any effort. Like muscle memory.

And Don’t work from a recipe. Dance around the fire and steal from the pockets of others. Use the ingredients and Create your own soup. Get it over the finish line. Even if it’s rough. At least It’s yours.

Keep it simple. Don’t invite complications. They are disguised as necessary tools for a happy existence. But don’t be fooled. They reveal themselves to be obstacles in your path, extra links on the long chain. The shackles that hold you in place.

And don’t ever veer from your own crooked path. Keep your lens focused. Keep forging through the forest with your eyes on the prize. Tunnel vision. Avoid the temptation of the campfires in the surrounding trees. Don’t allow yourself to get distracted by that glitz and glamour. Keep going. Wether the storm. Find your own pot of gold.

Keep your antenna switched on at all times. Listen to the signals that the universe throws at you. Don’t ignore or dismiss them. They are there for a reason. Use them as signposts to follow. A compass to help you on your way. The more you listen, the more you will hear. And before you know it, the dust will blow away and the road will reveal itself to you right before your eyes.

And hold on to your hunger. Keep it alive. Don’t overfeed it. But also, don’t starve it. Remember. Sometimes you gotta eat to get hungry. Again, it’s a balancing act.

And last but not least, whatever you do.. DONT LISTEN TO ADVICE FROM PEOPLE LIKE ME!
